    Start, run and tune your engine before installing it into your car. I am a muscle car hobbyist, and like most, I have limited garage space for storing large equipment. I designed this engine start/test stand so that I could be sure my rebuilt engines were ready to run before installing into my newly restored cars. When I first looked around for starter stands, I couldn't find anything inexpensive or collapsible. With some tube steel, a drill and a welder (you must be able to weld), you can build one of these in a weekend.
    This stand collapses to less than 9" deep to be stored against a wall or in a corner out of the way. It can be adapted to fit most V8 engines (I've run several Chevy big block and Ford small block engines  on it).
