An original photograph from USS Barker in the 1920's, during the Russian War Era.
It came from a USS Barker military Navy album that I got at an estate sale. The album was full of
Military
photographs from the Navy USS Barker and where they traveled when the destroyer ship was first launched.
In 1920, the USS Barker sailed to the Middle East to join Division 35, US Naval Detachment, Turkish Waters. She served for several months with the American Relief of Armenia and visited several ports in Turkey and the Middle East. Late in 1921
the
Barker
left the Middle East and sailed east through the Suez Canal to join the Asiatic Fleet. She spent the next four years splitting her time between the Philippines and Chinese waters. In January 1925 she helped transport a force of Marines to Shanghai, where they landed on 22 January 1925, to protect US interests along with the Borie
DD-215
and Whipple DD-217
. She returned to the United States in May 1925.
