Description
1992-2 Spain in the Americas - National Geographic Map PosterA valuable resource map / poster which chronicles the impact of the Spanish influence in the New World and the reverse influence on the Old World. One side shows the routes of the various Spanish explorers as they searched for treasures (primarily silver and gold) in North, South, and Central America. These explorers include Columbus, Coronado, de Soto, Ponce de Leon, Pizarro, Cortes, Cabeza de Vaca, Las Casas, Magellan, Balboa, and Vespucci. The reverse-side speaks about the “grand exchange” where the Europeans brought horses, pigs, rats, weeds, fruit trees, slaves, and diseases to the Americas, they took back corn, potatoes, coffee, dyes, tobacco, beans, squash, and medicinal plants. An excellent study of the impact that Spain had on the Americas.
