Description
Handsome large-format fold-out 1975 official highway map of South Carolina, printed more than 43 years ago.This map opens to a generous 22½" x 39" and has great detail on old road alignments and route numbers.
There are inset plans of Spartanburg, Anderson, Rock Hill, Florence, Greenville, Columbia, Sumter, Orangeburg, and Charleston.
On the reverse side there's a reproduction of a 1775 map of the Carolinas by Henry Mouzon and Revolutionary War battle scenes painted by famous artists, including the Battle of Cowpens by William Ranney and Marion Crossing the Pee Dee by Edward Arnold.
The artwork on the front cover is a detail from Alonzo Chappel's painting of the Battle of Camden.
This map was published in 1975 by the South Carolina State Highway Department and is dated on the cover and in the legend.
