Vintage fold-out 1933 Sunoco pictorial road map of southern New England showing historical and other points of interest, printed more than 87 years ago.
The map opens to 22" x 28" and has dozens of charming illustrations, a decorative cartouche, and a handsome scrollwork border.
It was distributed by the Sun Oil Company of Philadelphia in 1933 to promote its Sunoco brand and is dated by the code number in the lower margin:  L-4.1-O. Population data is from the 1930 census.
Condition:
It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with
no
rips, tears, or writing. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
On the reverse side there are inset plans of Boston, Bridgeport, and Providence, along with a highway map of all six New England states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
There's good detail on old road alignments and route numbers, with cartography by Rand McNally.
